An Exciting Spring Season Ends with Three 1st Place Teams! Strikers make Southampton Soccer Club History!

What an incredible spring season it has been for Southampton Soccer Club travel soccer!  Battling tough weather conditions, rescheduling of games, and of course, tough competition, three of our teams came out on the top of their divisions.  Congratulations to our Boys U10 Colts, Boys U15 Strikers, and Girls U16 Blizzard for earning first place in the LIJSL!  The Colts ended their season with a record of 8-0-1.  The Strikers also ended with a record of 8-0-1.  The Blizzard finished with a record of 7-1-1.

We would also like to give another congratulations to the Strikers for winning the LI Cup!  The Strikers beat the Plainview-Old Bethpage Revolution on Saturday 3-2.  The Strikers already made club history by being the first team to earn first place in Division 1.  However, they’ve made history again by being the first to win the league AND the LI Cup!  Way to go Strikers!

Player of the Week

Player of the Week:  Ellie Avallone

Congratulations to Ellie Avallone of the U10 Lady Pioneers for earning Player of the Week!  This weekend, the Lady Pioneers took on the Bayport Ripcurl.  Ellie had a spectacular game scoring three goals.  Ellie also helped create the scoring opportunities for the team’s two other goals.  Ellie has been a great offensive force the entire season.  She tallied a total of seven goals this spring.  The Lady Pioneers finished their season with a record of 5-2-2 and tied for third place in the league.  Great work Ellie!

“Ellie played an outstanding game scoring the first hat-trick of the Lady Pioneers team history. She scores using both her left and right feet which is what we preach every week.”

Southampton Strikers 3 vs. Plainview-Old Bethpage Revolution 2

This past weekend the U15 Southampton Strikers played in the LI Cup final against the Plainview-Old Bethpage Revolution.  The Revolution would be first to strike, going up 1-0.  However, the Strikers would fight back with Gianluca Santacruz making it 1-1 at half.  The second half proved to be intense, but Jesse Scanlon and Jorge Naula would both score goals to put the Strikers ahead 3-1.  With five minutes left, the Revolution scored to make it a 3-2 game, but the Strikers were able to hang on and secure the win.  The Strikers are double champs!  LI Cup Champs and Division 1 Champs!  This is the first time in club history for a team to win first place in Division 1 and also win the LI Cup.  The Strikers ended the spring with an overall record of 13-0-1.  Congratulations Strikers!  What a great season!

Lindberg Earns Elite Soccer Status

The Southampton Soccer Club would like to congratulate our director, Andreas Lindberg, on completing his National ‘A’ Coaching License through the United States Soccer Federation.  This license is the most prestigious in the United States and is targeted toward coaching players at the junior and senior level.  The primary focus of the license is on recognizing principles of the game and its technical applications.  Lindberg endured 80 hours of intensive coursework, which included classroom hours dedicated to theory and practice, developing and conducting sessions, video analysis of game situations and footage, completing an oral and written examination and writing a 10-page paper.  By doing this, Lindberg joins an elite class of coaches in the United States.
